Standardise all materials in the company¡¦s stock ledger by means of
cataloguing and codification and assist buyers in procuring materials
through accurate and reliable description and specifications as
documented in the materials sub-system.
Cost Control:
„XAdvise end user in procuring the correct materials and spare parts
instead of buying the whole unit in order to save costs. Policies &
Procedures:
„XRecommend improvements to departmental procedure and direct the
implementation of instructions and controls covering a specific area of
Materials activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative
requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective
service to customers.
Safety, Quality & Environment:
„XEnsure compliance to all relevant safety, quality and environmental
management procedures and controls within a defined area of Materials
activity to guarantee employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery
of high quality products/service and a responsible environmental
attitude.
Standardisation of Materials :
„XClassify materials using International codes and standards with a
view to standardisation of all materials in the Company¡¦s stock ledger
and the Company Master data in SAP. Technical Assistance for
Cataloguing :
„XEnsure that all materials have a correct technical description so
that buyers can identify the item accurately and procure it without
delay. Additional information for Technical Descriptions :
„XConduct research on the internet and through studying Operations and
Maintenance manuals for technical description of spare parts (not in
the catalogue or new materials) in order to obtain accurate and
reliable technical description and information for procuring spare
parts. Identification of duplication of part numbers :
„XIdentify identical spare parts carrying differing part numbers and
certify them to reclassify them with standard material numbers.
Obsolete Materials :
„XIdentify obsolete materials and spare parts in order to certify them
for removal from inventory.
Digital Imaging :
„XTake digital photographs of materials and spare parts and equipment
as procurement samples in order to facilitate more accurate procurement
Sourcing Assistance :
„XAssist buyers in sourcing materials, equipment and spare parts by
direct communication with local and international vendors and
manufacturers to ensure technical descriptions and specifications are
accurate.
Updated Codes :
„XMaintain updated local and international codes and standards for
materials and spare parts in order to provide a useful reference for
buyers to procure materials and spare parts. Site Inspection of
Materials, Equipment and Spare Parts :
„XLiaise with end users and the materials planners and inspect
materials, equipment and spare parts at site in order to ascertain the
correct usage of items and an accurate description for the purposes of
ordering. The job holder works under the general guidance and
directions of the Superintendent, Inventory and Stock Control. The job
holder has to be aware of changes to local and international codes,
standards, specifications e.g. International Electrical Codes (IEC)
National Electrical Manufacturers (NEMA) etc. He works within
established departmental policies and procedures.
Profile:
Minimum Qualifications :
„XA graduate in mechanical or electrical engineering.
Minimum Experience : „X8 to 10 years in maintenance of a plant of which
at least a year in production operations or materials procurement. or
equivalent exposure Job Specific Skills : „XStrong technical
application skills in materials planning and materials specifications,
„XGood stocking and ordering skills
