Accountable for providing a leadership role within the organization
with respect to the Smelter construction project, the EMAL EHS
Management System and programs supporting the objectives of the EHS
Management System.
Responsible to provide technical expertise, leadership and support in
the environment area.
Define organizational issues and objectives through discussions with
government authorities, stakeholders and senior management, linking
them to business objectives. Provide innovative strategies in the
area of pollution prevention and environment management.
Ensure that environment issues and practices are scientifically
sound, rigorous and appropriately managed.
Advise managers about the extent to which operations and
administrative procedures are in compliance with laws, regulations,
standards and specific targets and implement strategic programs to meet
the business needs and the expectations of the stakeholders and public.
Lead plant environment audits and develop other resources to perform
these audits.
Lead and develop the team of competent and skilled environment
resources.
Promote and foster collaboration between the teams involved in
management of environment issues.
Participate in the formulation of EHS policies and practices through
collaboration with the Managers of Safety, Occupational Health, Hygiene
and the Business Systems.
Achieve agreed objectives as measured by key performance indicators
(KPIs) which have been established for the area of responsibility.
QUALIFICATION
University degree in Environment science or Environmental chemistry
or similar discipline.
EXPERIENCE
5 to 7 years experience in similar position for a
production/industrial operation.
Technical/Functional Expertise: Strong knowledge of environment
aspects and impacts related to the Aluminium Smelter / Power Generation
(i.e. pollution, work-related, injury or illness, sustainability
management). Exposure to ISO 14001/OHSAS -18001. Management Systems.
Teamwork and cooperation: able to cooperate with other people in a team
environment, gain trust and encourage participation and new ideas.
Environment, Health and Safety: promote and implement environment,
health and safety policies and management.
